I WAS FINED FOR PARKING ON AN OLD BUS STOP

A WIRRAL man said he was surprised after he was slapped with a fine for parking in a spot he has used for years.

Mark Fleming parked up in the historic model village of Port Sunlight on his way to church, in what he thought “was a safe and perfectly legal spot.”

His usual spot had been taken so he decided a disused bus stop on Greendale Road which hadn't been used for several years would be fine. The sign for the stop clearly indicates no services operate from there. However, when he left church to return to his car, the Wallasey resident said he was surprised to find a fine had been slapped on the window of his car.

He told the ECHO the disused bus stop was “dead space,” adding: “As I park there every week I was a bit surprised. I had never had one before. I appealed against it because it’s not a legitimate bus stop.”
