'Destroyed' bowling club is reopened

ALMOST a year after “mindless” vandals broke into a community hub and “destroyed” over 80 years of history, a bowling club has reopened.

Walton Hall Bowling Club was broken into by a group of teenagers on Monday, September 23 last year and severely damaged.

At the time, Walton Bowling Club chairman, John Rogers, 73, told the ECHO how he had cried when he saw the damage inflicted on his club, where he had been a member for 14 years.

He said he was told to “prepare for the worst” when the news was broken to him.
