'DAN SPOKE SO HIGHLY OF IT, HE WOULD'VE BEEN PROUD'

CROWDS gathered at the Huyton and Prescot Golf Club to celebrate the 13th instalment of the Anne Williams Golf Day.

The event pays tribute to Anne Williams, a mother from Formby who campaigned for years for her 15-year-old son Kevin and the 97 supporters who lost their lives in the 1989 Hillsborough Disaster.

Anne passed away in 2013 following a battle with cancer.

The event raises money for small Merseyside charities, with a different one being picked each year and an emphasis on the charity not being supported by a large backer.

Golfers compete for a variety of different prizes throughout the day, and the winners are awarded the Anne Williams shield.
