'Coward' sobs at sentencing

- By PATRICK EDRICH & ADAM EVERETT

A PAEDOPHILE who sexually assaulted a teenage girl collected a sickening array of indecent images while employed at a Merseyside college.

Michael Hollywood, 43, recorded himself abusing the teenage girl while secretly committing an array of vile crimes for two decades.

His shame was only exposed when a family member found a horrifying catalogue of indecent images on his laptop as he frantically sought to regain possession of the device.

The ECHO can reveal that Hollywood is a former employee at Hugh Baird College - and worked there for a number of years while he amassed his collection of images. There is no suggestion that any images were accessed at the college or on college equipment.

The college this week told the ECHO they had conducted pre-employment and safer recruitment checks on Hollywood.

Liverpool Crown Court heard this week that Hollywood, formerly of Bootle, was arrested in relation to unconnected matters in January this year, but refused to hand over the password to his mobile phone.
