ST Helens head coach Paul Wellens said his side is a joy to coach after they thrashed Wakefield 34-4 at the DIY Kitchens Stadium to boost their Betfred Super League playoff chances.

Saints trio Alex Walmsley, Morgan Knowles and Daryl Clark touched down before Lachlan Walmsley’s effort for Wakefield just before the break gave brief hope of an unlikely fightback.

But that was snuffed out by Saints centre Harry Robertson’s effort early in the second half before wing Kyle Feldt cantered in for a late double and an 18-point haul in total after he also landed four conversions and a penalty.

Saints cruised to their seventh win in their last eight matches and leapfrogged Leeds into fourth place on points difference.
