Wavertree grounds for optimism

WAVERTREE'S efforts to save their ground and secure the club's future are picking up speed.

The club needs to raise £200,000 by the end of next year in order to buy the premises at Sandown Lane.

Chairman Phill O'Brien says the early response to a fundraising drive has been positive, with the cricket community rallying round.

Now he wants to encourage more people to get involved by taking part in Wavertree's community lottery.
