AS LIVERPOOL LEGEND JODIE COMER'S LATEST FILM HITS CINEMAS SHE SHARES HER THOUGHTS ON HER CAREER, HER HOME CITY AND HER 'ESSENCE OF SCOUSENESS' IN HER FIRST EVER INTERVIEW WITH THE ECHO

There's a familiarity, there's a warmth... There's something about feeling who I am as a person

JODIE Comer has the world at her feet. The 32-year-old Scouser skyrocketed to stardom with her incredible performance as Villanelle in Killing Eve and she has been flying the flag for Liverpool ever since.

The role brought awards and international fame, but Jodie has never been the kind of person to rest on her laurels and she has built on this success to become one of Hollywood's most in-demand actors. The girl from Childwall has already conquered the world, but she is not ready to stop as her latest film, 28 Years Later, arrived in cinemas this week to rave reviews.

Jodie is now at the point in her career when the big-name directors want to work with her and this is exactly what happened with her latest role when she was approached by Academy Award-winning filmmaker, Danny Boyle.

In her first ever interview with the Liverpool ECHO, Jodie described the chance to work with the trailblazing director in the third instalment of the iconic zombie franchise as a “dream come true” She said: “I got an email through my agent in the kind of usual way with an opportunity to meet him, to read the script and then we met for a coffee and chatted about the part.

“It was kind of all on board from there. To be on one of his sets and see how brilliant he is. But also to see what a lovely human being and leader he is, has been a dream.”

Jodie’s character in the film hails from Newcastle and the actor took inspiration from some famous Geordies to move out of her Scouse accent. Explaining the process, she told the ECHO she worked with a dialect coach and watched videos of Girls Aloud star, Cheryl, to master the North East twang.

However, it was her young co-star, Alfie Williams, making his feature film debut, who proved to be the best teacher. She added: “What was amazing was little Alfie Williams, who is not so little any more, is from Newcastle.
