IT sounds like I’m damning Birkenhead’s Dean Johnson with faint praise by saying that he is one of the UK’s great opening acts but it’s true. Time and again, I've been to shows where he has come on for half an hour before the headline act whether it be the Christians, Squeeze, Bryan Ferry or Wet Wet Wet.
-
An audience may be impatient for the main act but he wins them over.
What's more, Dean does it with his own songs and several (Almost Be Her, Parrot Fashion and Girl From Monterey) deserve wider recognition.
