Blitz rubble on move to protect coastline

WORK has begun on repurposing a treasure trove of Merseyside history on Crosby's 'Blitz beach'.

Around 400 tonnes of rubble will be scooped up and redistributed along the coastline, north of Hall Road, in Blundellsands.

The beach is covered in fragments of buildings destroyed during the Liverpool Blitz. The remains include rubble from the former Custom House, bombed in 1941 and demolished in 1948.
