Waterway to mark anniversary!

A COLLECTION of colourful boats will make its way down Foxton Locks this weekend to mark the county's historic association with the waterways.

The event will celebrate the role of the county in the renaissance of the nation's canal network 75 years ago.

The event will see the boats head to Union Wharf in Market Harborough, where the Festival of Boats and Arts took place in 1950.

The event was pivotal in the campaign to prevent the loss of the nation's formerly industrial waterways, according to organisers from the Leicestershire branch of the Inland Waterways Association (IWA).
