THE top of Division One in the Leicester and District League continues to echo last term in the early stages, with Loughbough Unicorn and Knighton Park's first team showing the way

- writes John Bowness.

Loughborough maintained top position by a slim sets margin when they defeated the KP third team 7-3, Robin Pearce recording a fine maximum, supported by two from Geoff Parsons and Alex Holland one.

Meanwhile, Knighton Park were very much in the debt of top man Chris Rogers, who emerged undefeated in a 6-4 success over Unicorn playing their first match.

Richard Hayes and James Berry each supplied one, KP taking an easy doubles. For Uni Daniel Broner and Adam Pettitt each won a pair.

Electricity, one match behind, still have a perfect winning record having beaten Syston Casuals first 9-1. Mat Hobday, David Grundy and Gareth Edmunds all won three before dropping the doubles last up.
