FORMER Leicester City bosses Brendan Rodgers and Dean Smith have been named by Christian Fuchs as strong influences with the title-winning left-back taking his first steps into management.
Fuchs has taken over at Newport County in his maiden role as a first-team manager, and lost his debut in charge 3-0 to Oldham on Saturday.
Discussing who he’s learned from in his successful career, Fuchs pointed to Rodgers, his City manager for three years and the coach that helped earn him an FA Cup winner’s medal.
He also cited Smith, who had a brief spell in charge of City in 2023.
Fuchs had left the King Power Stadium by then, but has been Smith’s assistant at Charlotte FC in the US for the past two years.
The other manager named by Fuchs was England boss Thomas Tuchel, whom he spent a year working under during a loan spell at Mainz.
