WE CONSIDER THE VARIOUS SELECTION OPTIONS AFTER SUBSTITUTES LED TO IMPROVED DISPLAYS

- By JORDAN BLACKWELL

THE calls are growing in volume and the time may be right for Leicester City manager Marti Cifuentes to shelve the consistent approach he's shown so far and make changes to his lineup.

Across the first five Championship games of the season, the Spaniard has mostly stuck to his guns and has usually only made changes when his hand has been forced.

From City's opening game with Sheffield Wednesday to the Preston fixture, one change was made, with Harry Winks in for Oliver Skipp in a tactical tweak.

The following week, at Charlton, that change was reversed, with tactics again at play.

But the other three changes at The Valley were based on Bilal El Khan-nouss's imminent exit and injuries to James Justin and Stephy Mavididi.

For Birmingham, the fit-again Mavididi came back in as the sole change. At Oxford, Aaron Ramsey made his debut in place of the injured Louis Page.

That's it. There’s been seven week-to-week changes and arguably only two have been tactical, with the rest influenced by injuries or transfers.

Now may be the right time for more, though.

The transfer window is closed and every player should be settled, knowing they are at City until at least January.

Plus, there'll be a week of training with the full squad in the lead-up to Saturday's derby, with no international duty interruptions.

In the stands, calls for changes are growing louder.

Fans have seen City produce better displays after substitutes have been introduced and they've seen new signings arrive.

They want the team to be freshened up.

In fact, ask supporters to pick the team and you might get seven changes for this weekend's clash with Coventry.

But will Cifuentes make such sweeping alterations to his side ahead of such a big occasion? Here, we've analysed each selection debate.
