AS MIDWIFE SHE REVOLUTIONISED STILLBIRTH CARE, HELPING MANY GRIEVING PARENTS

- By STAFF REPORTER

A SCHOOL will honour stillbirth care pioneer Agnes Nisbett after its Year 9 pupils named her their social justice champion.

Students from Fullhurst Community College will honour the trailblazing midwife - Leicester's first black nursing officer - on Friday, with a social justice champion plaque.

Agnes revolutionised stillbirth care by establishing the Born Whilst Sleeping programme at Leicester Royal Infirmary in 1973.

She has previously told how, after going through a stillbirth herself, her son was quickly wrapped up and taken away, until she stopped the midwife.
