Robinson storms to his first league series win

UNHERALDED runner Harry Robinson, of Hinckley RC, claimed his first-ever victory in the Leicestershire Road Running League (LRRL) series

The 30-year-old former footballer won the men’s senior open title at the Swithland 6-mile road race which counted as the seventh edition of the 2025 LRRL series.

Robinson strode home in a time of 30:50, beating the defending champion Matt Scarsbrook of Badgers from Warwickshire and Mo Hussein of Roadhoggs Leicester AC, who was the favourite in a field of 651 runners.

"It was a good result for me overall," said Robinson who finished seventh in last year’s competition.

"I closed the gap between myself and the favourites.

"Matt was in front for most of the race, but I picked up the pace in the closing stages to win by seven seconds"

Robinson and Scarsbrook broke away from the chasing pack around the halfway mark and it was a neck-and-neck contest until after four miles.
