Police officer sent his ex hundreds of texts in violation of his bail

A FORMER Leicestershire Police officer bombarded his ex-partner with more than 500 WhatsApp messages while on bail for alleged offences against her.

The officer, whose name has been redacted, even ordered flowers and chocolates for her birthday despite warnings that further contact would result in arrest.

An accelerated misconduct hearing ruled the officer would have been dismissed had he not already left the force.

The investigation began after the officer was arrested on February this year for alleged offences against a woman known in the records as Person A, with whom he had been in a relationship, police said.

He was released on bail the following day with conditions including “not to contact, directly or indirectly” Person A.

However, between February 15 and March 18, the woman unblocked him on WhatsApp, and the pair shared messages, the hearing at Leicestershire Police headquarters was told.
