VETS WARN OF HEALTH RISKS LINKED TO PASSIVE SMOKING

VETS are urging owners to exercise caution when smoking or vaping around their pets, outlining the hidden harm caused by nicotine and smoke exposure.

Medivet, a major provider of veterinary services in the UK, is calling on people to stop smoking in close proximity to their animals after growing evidence shows the serious health risks associated with secondhand smoke and e-liquid exposure.

As in humans, secondhand or passive smoking in pets is when they breathe in smoke from cigarettes, e-cigarettes or vapes, and this smoke can be inhaled when in close proximity to the smoker.

With vapes increasingly growing in popularity, more pets are being exposed to secondhand smoke.
