I shouldn't have displayed my frustration, admits Leek boss

BOSS Josh Brehaut admitted he was too hard on his players after Leek Town's 2-1 defeat to Gainsborough Trinity on the season's final day.

I shouldn't have displayed my frustration, admits Leek boss

The defeat meant the Blues ended the season in 15th place when a point would have meant a 12th-placed finish for the club.

In the grand scheme of things it didn't matter a jot as the club will play Northern Premier League Premier Division football next season and the overriding feeling is contentment at doing what was needed to stay put at Step 3.

"It was a strange game in that Gainsborough couldn't get to the play-offs and we had achieved our objective of staying in the division and I was just hoping the players would put on a performance that showcased us in our best light," said Brehaut.

"We should have been ahead at half-time on the balance of chances after having good opportunities which, having gone 1-0 down, would suggest that we did fairly well in the first half."

Brehaut had a rare vantage point and explained: "I was actually up in the stand from the red card I had got a couple of months ago.

"So I ended up having a one-game touchline ban so with it being the last game of the season we just took that on the head really and accepted it.
