THE HOLIDAY SEASON is booming in the Moorlands — thanks to the National Garden Festival.

Delighted tourist chiefs are predicting a record-breaking year as thousands discover the beauties of North Staffordshire for the first time.

Already with the summer season only three months old:

• One caravan site has had to turn away more than 1,000 visitors.

• Attendance figures are soaring at Alton Towers.

• The Tourist Information Centre in Leek, the National Garden Festival and the National Trust stand have each received hundreds of new inquiries about holidays locally.

And after discovering the Moorlands many holidaymakers have booked to return to the area either later this summer or next year.
