£450k fundraiser set to help ‘Rambo’ Costa battle cancer

CHIP shop owner Costa Fantis has been struck down with a highly-aggressive brain cancer.

The 57-year-old was diagnosed with stage 4 IDH-wildtype glioblastoma in April.

The dad-of-four is well known for running fish and chip shops throughout North Staffordshire, including the popular Tean Fish Bar.

But Costa has been having chemotherapy and radiotherapy and been offered a ‘lifeline’ of experimental treatments in Germany at a cost of £450,000.

Now Longton’s Greek Orthodox Church has started an online fundraiser which has already raised almost £250,000.

Son Antonio said: “It came really out of the blue. He didn’t really have any symptoms apart from an aura smell, where you smell things that aren’t real. We thought it was epilepsy or something.
