Traders call for rent reduction after outdoor market move
Lancashire Evening Post
|November 20, 2025
Six market traders who use the shipping containers on Preston's Box Market have made a formal demand for a rent reduction.
Led by The Market Bottle Shop's Stephen Moore he has written to their landlord, Preston City Council, after what he described as the 'omnishambles' of the outdoor market move to the front of their premises.
Mr Moore said the response he received from the city council to he and fellow traders concerns was disappointing and they are now calling for compensation.
An email with seven different points-including the siting of a 'windbreak fence' - was sent to markets management.
