Soldier accused of Kenya septic tank murder

A former combat medic with the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment faces extradition to Africa after being named as the suspect in the murder of a young Kenyan mother 13 years ago.

Robert James Purkiss was reportedly in the country on hot weather training before being deployed to Afghanistan - and is accused of killing hairdresser Agnes Wanjiru while there.

The 21-year-old victim, who had a baby daughter, was found dead in a septic tank two months after being seen partying with soldiers in the town of Nanyuki, where Britain has a military training ground.
