Plans set to refurbish major landmark for its anniversary
Lancashire Evening Post
|January 01, 2026
One of Preston's best-loved landmarks looks set to get a makeover for its centenary.
The Post understands that Preston City Council has put out tenders for work to improve the area around the cenotaph, in Cheapside.
The structure, which honours 2,000 of the city's fallen soldiers, was erected in 1926, and will turn 100 on June 13.
Earlier this year, a representative of local company William Pye Ltd took to social media platform TikTok to explain they were pricing the job up and looking at potential constraints of the site.
