Multiple casualties after six-vehicle crash

A number of people including two young children were taken to hospital and there are two hour delays on the M6 due to a serious six-vehicle crash.

Police were called to the scene of a crash on the M6 near to Forton Service Station between junction 32 and 33 at around 10.30am yesterday.

The nature of the crash meant that police had to close the carriageway in both directions.

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said: “We responded with significant resources to reports of the six-vehicle collision on the M6 following a 999 call at 10.34.
