Drug-driver jailed after crashing into woman in her 80s

A man has been jailed after leaving woman with serious injuries in collision Walton-le-Dale.
Laurence McGuigan was jailed at Preston Crown Court
The collision left a woman in her 80s seriously injured.
The woman was travelling along Higher Walton Road in her Audi on Saturday, June 22, 2024, when Laurence McGuigan was driving his Vauxhall Corsa. He crossed the other side of the carriageway and collided with the woman's car head on.
At the scene, McGuigan told police officers that he had closed his eyes, and when he opened them, the car was there.
Both the woman and McGuigan from suffered serious injuries.
