Feat highlights Type 1 Diabetes fight
A man living with Type 1 Diabetes certainly kept his cool... after he stood in a box immersed in ice cubes for more than TWO hours.
Cold-exposure enthusiast, Luca Graham, from Mauchline, set a new British record for the feat - and also claimed a world record.
Luca, aged 40, travelled to Poland for the challenge, as part of the 23rd International Winter Swimming Rally in Mielno.
The hardy soul stood immersed up to his neck in a transparent perspex box filled with ice cubes for 2 hours and 40 minutes.
This extraordinary achievement not only surpasses the previous British record, but also marks a world record for a Type 1 diabetic, highlighting an exceptional combination of resilience, training, and physiological control.
Luca is part of a group called Flowstate Experience, who offer cold exposure opportunities as well as guided walks, travel and other activities.
