It's a flat finale for Killie as Hearts nick win
Kilmarnock Standard
|May 21, 2025
This wasn’t quite the end to the season that Killie fans would have wished for, especially against the team about to be managed by Derek McInnes — their former boss.
But it was a self-inflicted defeat for the home side, something that happened on a far too regular basis this term.
That's despite their opponents having to play for over an hour with ten men following Yan Dhanda’s sending-off.
The background to the match was perfect — a beautiful sunny day, a noisy and enthusiastic crowd, and the expectation of finishing the season with a home win.
It didn’t pan out that way however, with the Edinburgh side scoring the game’s only goal in the 89th minute.
Despite a menacing start under the leadership of stand-in boss Chris Burke, the home side couldn’t get the early breakthrough.
