Care work hit colleague with badminton racket
Kilmarnock Standard
|June 18, 2025
An Ayrshire care worker has been sanctioned by the industry regulator for hitting his colleague on the bottom with a badminton racket.
Andrew Lindsay was also adjudged to have pinned her to a sofa, tickled her, before saying:"I take it you don't have a sex life," or words to that effect.
His behaviour made his colleague, known only as 'ZZ, "feel uncomfortable," according to the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), who said his fitness to practise was "impaired" due to "misconduct."
Lindsay's behaviour unfolded on or around May 3, 2024-and in front of a supported person-while employed as a Support Worker by Quarriers in the East Ayrshire Supported Living Service, Kilmarnock.
The SSSC has now placed a warning on Lindsay's registration for a period of 24 months and put conditions on his continuing registration.
In their notice of decision the SSSC said to Lindsay: "Social service workers are trusted to provide care and support to some of the most vulnerable people in society. They must work with kindness and respect and should maintain professional boundaries with colleagues and respect their dignity, safety and wellbeing.
