Ruhullah Declines to Campaign for NC in Budgam, Cites Unfulfilled Promises
Kashmir Observer
|October 14,2025 Issue
National Conference (NC) leader and Member of Parliament from Srinagar, Aga Ruhullah Mehdi, on Monday announced that he will not take part in campaigning for the party in the upcoming Budgam Assembly bypolls, citing unfulfilled promises and his commitment to political principles over expediency.
Ruhullah, who has represented the Budgam constituency multiple times, said his decision stems from the party’s failure to deliver on commitments made during the previous Assembly term. “If the party wants me to go in front of people, there are a few points I want to see addressed immediately. Only after that will I consider my participation,” he said, stressing that his stance was guided by principles, not political calculations.
