In 1930, a kanal of land in Srinagar cost only 20. Even middle-income families could buy plots without debt. Land was dignity and inheritance.

Ninety-five years later, that same kanal costs around 4 crore. A growth rate of 16.5 percent over nearly a century has turned Kashmir’s soil into one of India’s most valuable assets.
