£2.5BN FOR ELECTRIC CAR FIRMS

OUR car makers are to get a £2.5billion government boost to help them transition to building electric vehicles and support thousands of jobs.

The cash will be handed out through competitions over 10 years - and all motor manufacturers legally registered in the UK can bid for support for a range of projects from startup prototypes to huge giga-factories.

The DRIVE35 project's aim is to keep UK manufacturing and its supporting supply chains competitive as the industry shifts to zero-emissions vehicles.
