Swedish superstar Gyokeres backed to kick on for the Gunners and break record set by Chelsea's Drogba

- BY TOM CANTON

VIKTOR GYOKERES has the backing of Mikel Arteta as the Arsenal striker closes in on a Didier Drogba record.

Ivorian striker Drogba dominated derbies between the Gunners and Chelsea, but after scoring twice in the north London clash, Gyokeres can overtake the Blues legend for a first-season goal haul with three months left to go by repeating his double today.

Drogba finished both his first two seasons with 16 goals in all competitions while the Swede is on 15 after his brace against Spurs, and despite plenty of scrutiny, is moving into impressive company.

Arteta, however, said making comparisons between players isn't always the best way to make judgments.
