Newly renovated hotel offers the ideal base for CATHAL RYAN to explore Tenerife
Often when I sit down to plan a holiday, I have to make a choice. Do I want to head off to a resort and plop myself on a sun lounger by a pool for a few days, or do I want to stick on my walking shoes and head through the old town of a cobbled city?
So when the opportunity came along to jet off to the north of Tenerife to stay at the newly renovated Precise Resort Tenerife my interest was piqued.
Nestled on a cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and surrounded by 40,000 sq m of botanical gardens, the resort is chock-full of everything needed for a bit of rest and recovery - pools, a spa, gardens and saunas.
But just a short stroll away is one of the most stunning Spanish cities I have ever walked through. I had hit the holiday jackpot.
The huge resort has just officially opened in Puerto de la Cruz, an old port town in the north of Tenerife, following a two-year, €10million renovation and we jetted off to the resort for a few days in May to check out everything on offer.
Precise Hotels and Resorts are an international hotel group operating properties across Europe, but the team don't just operate a chain of hotels - at the heart of the Precise philosophy is a commitment to restoring places with identity, character and connection to their surroundings.
This shines through the moment you step into the lobby, with greenery plotted around the foyer alongside huge glass windows looking out onto the Atlantic and a long balcony to let the ocean air blow onto your face.
