River tragedy teen Peter to be mourned

A TEENAGE boy who died after getting into difficulty while swimming in the river Barrow earlier this week is to be buried tomorrow.

Peter Byrne, 17, from Dolmen Gardens, Carlow, had been swimming when he got into difficulty around 6.30pm in the river in the Milford area of the county - eight kilometers from Carlow town.

The teenager had been with a couple of friends at a local gym and it is believed that he and another friend then decided to go swimming at Cloghristick, Milford, Co Carlow.
