Ready to beat jinx in hot race I love

Have you ever looked forward to something but with a nagging doubt circumstances will thwart you? That's how I have been the last six months. There's a race in Spain called 'Al Andalus Ultimate Ultra' that I've run twice before in 2017 and 2018. I didn't finish the first one but came back wiser and finished the second.

Since then I have been desperate to run it again. It's a beautifully stunning race of 140 miles in the Southern Spanish mountains over five days. Many don't finish due to the extreme heat (it's currently 42C) and the terrain.

In 2019 I was injured, in 2020 Covid stopped it, in 2021 there were still Covid restrictions on travel and in 2022 it clashed with another race and the last two years clashed with family holidays.
