Youngster George struck his first senior goal four minutes into a much-improved second period, having moved into the No.10 role vacated by Cole Palmer, who was substituted following a dour opening 45.

And Noni Madueke, Palmer's replacement, followed up with a clinical brace to deflate a spirited Legia - though his second came 25 seconds after Christopher Nkunku had his penalty saved.
