Storm plume to hit before the heatwave

A FRESH burst of hot weather could be on the cards for Ireland as forecasters eye the potential return of a heatwave next week.

But before that a so-called “storm plume” is bringing the risk of heavy thunderstorms.

Meteorologists have been closely watching weather models for signs of a plume of warm air moving up from Iberia, which could bring a spike in temperatures.
