YESTERDAY was a bit of a thriller in the Irish motoring calendar with the official launch of the Alpine brand in Ireland and our first look at the A290 — Alpine's brilliant take on the new Renault 5.

If you're not aware of their work, Alpine is Renault's high performance standalone brand and it's been quietly working away on two models which were out on the track yesterday - the Alpine A110 2-seater sports car and the gloriously retro all-electric A290.

The A110, known for its lightweight design and mid-engine layout, reimagines the spirit of the iconic Berlinette with a modern blend of agility, refinement, and driving purity.

Alongside it, the European Car of the Year 2025, the all-new Alpine A290, made its long-awaited debut a bold electric hot hatch that distils Alpine's motorsport heritage into a compact, everyday performance car.

EXCITING

The A290 incorporates all the sensations so appreciated behind the wheel of the A110 into an urban sportscar.

Developed in perfect keeping with Alpine's DNA, the A290 is compact and agile, offering easy-to-use high performance while guaranteeing comfortable everyday use.

Its Ampere-derived electric platform and energy services to optimise home recharging, including bi-directional V2G recharging capability, make it part of a complete electrical ecosystem offering the best possible experience.
