DONALD Trump wants to use US cities as military training grounds as he joined his defence secretary Pete Hegseth to say there are too many fat generals.

Mr Hegseth announced new directives for troops that include "genderneutral" or "male-level" standards for physical fitness.

Hundreds of generals were summoned at short notice for the US President's speech in Quantico, near Washington, with many being forced to travel from conflict zones across the world.
