Fernandes slams Reds hierarchy for summer attempt to sell him

- Ian PARKER

BRUNO Fernandes says he was left “sad and hurt” by the Manchester United board after they tried to push him out of Old Trafford in the summer.

Saudi club Al-Hilal were willing to pay United €100million for the Red Devils captain as well as offering him a deal at wages of €800,000-per-week.

And the Portugal international reckons the only reason he was allowed to stay in the Premier League was because the board did not want to overrule Ruben Amorim.

The manager was only seven months into the job and wanted his fellow countryman to stay.

Money

"I could have left in this transfer window, I would have earned much more money,” Fernandes said in an interview with Canal 11, a channel owned by the Portuguese Football Federation, the 31-year-old said he felt senior figures at United were keen to take the Saudi money and cash in on an extraordinary sum for a player of his age.
