Projects get Govt funds to engage younger generation

SCIENTISTS have warned that the summer of 2025 has seen an alarming acceleration of the impacts of our heating climate.

From Texas to the Mediterranean, the consequences of the warming already locked in by 200 years of burning fossil fuels are starting to hit almost daily.

Superstorms and extreme heatwaves are happening on a much more frequent basis and to greater extremes.

One of the big challenges of tackling the crisis is to do so justly so those who did the least damage don't suffer the most.

That priority is behind 10 new projects in Ireland that aim to engage the younger generation in climate justice.

The initiatives have just been recognised with almost €500,000 in funding by Education Minister Helen McEntee.

The money is being made available through the Youth Climate Justice Fund, which helps young people aged 8 to 25 take part in projects that raise awareness and take action on climate issues.
