Boss says rape-accused coach is an ‘outstanding human being’

McMILLAN DEFENDS RANDLE POSITION

MUNSTER coach Clayton McMillan has defended the appointment of Roger Randle to the post of attack coach at Munster.

Randle was accused of raping a woman in Durban in 1997 while in South Africa with his then club Wellington Hurricanes for a match against Sharks.

The charges were subsequently dropped when the woman withdrew the charge although she has stood by her allegation. Randle has always maintained his innocence.

Former Ireland internationals and Munster players Billy Holland, Mick O'Driscoll and Killian Keane have resigned from Munster's Professional Game’s Board (PGB) in protest.

Meanwhile there has been a social media storm with Munster's official X account (@munsterrugby) to the fore with some supporters claiming they would not be renewing their season tickets and/or protesting the appointment.
