Horror as boy, 7, dies swimming in the sea

Town's shock as day out ends in tragedy

TRIBUTES have been paid to a boy who died while swimming in the sea at the weekend.

Seven-year-old Alan Singh was spotted in difficulty in the water at Lissadell Beach in Sligo at around 3.30pm on Saturday and the alarm was raised.

He was given medical assistance onshore before being airlifted by the Irish Coast Guard to Sligo University Hospital where he later died.

Sligo RNLI volunteers also responded to the call out.
