Drinkers spending more on booze to sup on the sofa

ALMOST half of drinkers in Ireland are spending more money on booze to have at home than in the pub, according to a new survey.

Drinkaware is issuing a warning before the Easter weekend, as it says drinking at home can lead to overconsumption.

As prices in pubs continue to rise, 45% of adults say they are more likely to drink at home now than they were last year. This compares to 38% in 2023.
