Eight people set on fire in attack at US mall

A MAN has been charged with a hate crime and attempted murder following a petrol bomb attack that injured eight people at a demo calling for the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza.

The suspect, 45-year-old Mohamed Sabry Soliman, was arrested at the scene at a shopping mall in Boulder, Colorado, where there had been reports of a man setting people on fire. He was also injured and received medical treatment.

Last night, officers confirmed he had been charged with hate crime and eight counts of attempted murder, among other charges.

Officers arriving at the mall discovered multiple victims suffering from burns, said Boulder police chief Stephen Redfearn. The eight people injured were aged from 52 to 88.

One was an 88-year-old Holocaust survivor.
