'Electrostate' goal for secure & affordable supply

IRELAND can become one of the first “electrostates” and guarantee energy security and cheaper bills.

That's the ambition of a blueprint launched today by Wind Energy Ireland.

It has unveiled a comprehensive roadmap aimed at transitioning Ireland into one of Europe’ first “electrostates” by 2031.

The strategy represents a mammoth national undertaking, proposing a shift away from fossil fuels toward a secure, affordable, and domestically generated clean electricity supply, primarily powered by wind.

The vision, launched at the organisation’s annual Conference in Dublin, outlines a transformation for the Irish economy

It proposes our entire energy consumption in homes, transport, and industry be powered by clean, reliable electricity, ensuring energy independence.

WEI chief executive Noel Cunniffe said becoming an electrostate goes beyond simple electricity generation, focusing instead on “ensuring we use that power to build a resilient, electrified, economy where Irish families and businesses can thrive”.
