Cult favourite is reimagined for new electric era

WHAT with all the Oasis hoopla ahead of their gigs next weekend and this week's test car, you'd be forgiven for thinking we were back in the heady days of the '90s.

Back then few hot hatches could hold a candle to the iconic Renault 5 GT Turbo, a little slip of a thing packing a glorious 115PS 1.4 turbo that became insanely popular for those who could insure the things. Sadly I was not one.

The flared wheel arches and squared-off good looks defined an era for hot hatches and spawned many rivals — but really the GT Turbo was the OG.

Now it’s back, and the good news is that Renault haven't pulled any punches, turning out an absolutely fabulous little car for the purists while also churning out a new larger Renault 4 for those who don't fancy contorting themselves into the back of the 5.

As youd expect, both cars are fully electric and pack decent power and comfort levels.
