Contractor hits back at criticism on project
Irish Daily Star
|May 23, 2025
THE new National Children's Hospital will not start seeing patients until June 2026 in the "best-case scenario", TDs have been told.
David Gunning, the Chief of the National Paediatric Hospital Development Board (NPHDB), told the Dail's spending watchdog, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), that he did not have faith in the project's main contractor BAM.
As the substantial completion date of the hospital is pushed back for the 15th time since 2020, Mr Gunning said that the project will cost an additional €2m per month for every month it is delayed.
