CLASSIC ALBUM SEEMED TO COME OUT OF NOWHERE

Oasis's debut Definitely Maybe was full of swagger and attitude
-
EVERY now and again an album comes out of nowhere, slaps you across the face, awakens your senses and hangs around forever.
On August 29, 1994, Definitely Maybe burst open the door, cracked open a can of Red Stripe and put its feet up. It's still sitting there now.
Right from the opening blast of Rock 'n' Roll Star, the album screams of swagger and attitude. An escape from the social security state, of crap jobs, of being on the dole, of dead end lives and dead end jobs.
It resonated with the people. Little wonder it became the fastest-selling debut album in the charts.
The anthems of the album stand up to the social outlook of today.
Given the strength of the album, it’s no coincidence that during Liam’s solo career he started his live set with the very same track which opens the album.
Noel Gallagher knew what he wanted. He had planned this and planned how Oasis would sound, and what their debut LP would sound like, even if actually getting the debut album right was a bit of a process.
"People think we happened overnight," said Noel. "We were together 18 months before we sounded any good, and another 18 before we had a record out. We're not embarrassed by our success because we deserve it, and if you don't want to be as big as the Beatles, then it's just a hobby."
Liam fronted it, Noel drove it.
