MARC CANHAM says the fallout from Colin Healy's controversial exit from the Ireland set-up has been "deeply regrettable".
But the FAI's chief football officer has defended how the process was handled.
"We never gave any assurances or guarantees that Colin would get a new contract after the Wales games," said Canham (inset).
"I know everything that happened, I know every conversation we had, we have talked this through within the association, we talk through everything with our board.
"Every single thing that happened, every single conversation, we stand by the decision and the process."

Healy was assistant to former Ireland women's boss Eileen Gleeson, but was not kept on after her departure following the Euro 2025 play-off defeat.
